Every year one member is lucky enough to win a $500 endowment award... but luck isn't enough. Each applicant has to convince the committee that the money will be best used by their business to expand or enhance their business' goals.

Wigged Out
Yorkville Memorials

Kathy Zito is this year’s MVBWN Endowment Award winner. She has been a licensed cosmetologist for over ten years, and is currently growing her new business, Wigged Out, a full-service hair & wig salon.
Kathy is a cancer survivor, and dedicates her business to others who have lost their hair due to illness or chemotherapy. “I know when I was going through treament, I had a variety of wigs to match the mood I was in,” she says. “I want to help other people feel the best they can feel in the same situation. This is my way of giving back and helping those who are feeling as I did in a crucial time in their lives.”

UPDATE: Kathy has been diagnosed with a recurrance of cancer. Send her your prayers and well-wishes today to 1036 Culver Ave, Utica.

UPDATE: 10/3 Kathy has been doing very well on traditional and non-traditional treatments...

The winner of the Women’s Business Center of NYS / MVBWN Endownment was given to Gina Trzepacz-Timpano, Owner & Master Stone Designer of Yorkville Memorials on Champlin Avenue in Yorkville. She recently purchased Yorkville Memorials from her uncle who is retiring from the business.
Gina is a graduate of the WBC of NYS Small Business Training Program. She has completed her business plan and will be joining the MVBWN in Sept 2008.
HSBC Bank judged the applications and found Gina’s to be the strongest plan, a real “award winner”!
